Problem

A 20 Ω20\,\Omega resistor is connected once to a 12 V12\,\text{V} DC source and once to a 12 V12\,\text{V} (rms) AC source. In each case it is observed that the resistor becomes equally warm. Explain in one sentence why the rate of heating is the same in both cases.
