Problem
A single circular loop of copper wire has radius 5.0 cm and carries a current of 3.0 A.
(i) The same wire is now reshaped without stretching into a square loop. Derive an expression for the current that must flow in the square so that its magnetic dipole moment is equal in magnitude to that of the original circular loop.
(ii) Calculate the required current in the square loop.
(iii) Both loops are placed with their planes parallel in the same uniform magnetic field of 0.50 T. Find the ratio of the maximum torques acting on the square and the circular loops when each carries its respective current obtained above.
