A jeweller wishes to fabricate a simple magnifier that will provide an angular magnification of 10 when used with the eye fully accommodated so that the virtual image is formed at a distance of 25 cm from the eye.
(i) Find the focal length of the lens that must be ground for this purpose.
(ii) Express the focal length obtained in part (i) in dioptres (D).
(iii) Comment briefly on whether such a lens is practical to manufacture with ordinary optical glass.
