Problem

Let kk be a non–zero real constant and consider the function f:R∖{0}→Rf:\mathbb R\setminus\{0\}\to\mathbb R defined by f(x)=kxf(x)=\dfrac{k}{x}. (i) State the domain of ff. (ii) Prove that 00 does not belong to the range of ff. (iii) Define a new function gg by g(x)=kx+3g(x)=\dfrac{k}{x}+3. Determine the range of gg and give a reason for the value that is excluded.
