Problem

An ideal mono-atomic gas (ratio of specific heats γ=5/3\gamma = 5/3) undergoes a reversible adiabatic expansion. The initial state is Pi=2.0×105 PaP_i = 2.0\times10^{5}\,\text{Pa}, Vi=0.020 m3V_i = 0.020\,\text{m}^3. After expansion the pressure falls to Pf=8.0×104 PaP_f = 8.0\times10^{4}\,\text{Pa}. Calculate the work done by the gas during the expansion.
