Problem

An ideal transformer has 500 turns on its primary winding and 5000 turns on its secondary winding. The primary is connected to a 230 V (rms) AC mains supply. A purely resistive load of 10 kΩ is connected across the secondary. (i) Find the rms voltage across the load. (ii) Calculate the rms current through the load. (iii) Determine the rms current drawn from the mains and compute the equivalent resistance as referred to the primary.
