Three identical toy carts are available for a laboratory activity.
(i) A single cart of mass 5kg is pushed from rest until it reaches a speed of 2.5m s−1. Find the work done on the cart.
(ii) The three carts are then coupled together and pushed from rest to the same speed of 2.5m s−1. Calculate the total work now required.
(iii) Suppose only the amount of work found in part (i) is performed on the coupled system of three carts starting from rest. What speed will the system attain?
