Problem

A stone is projected vertically upward with an initial velocity of 15 m/s15\,\text{m/s}. Take upward direction as positive and the acceleration due to gravity as −9.8 m/s2-9.8\,\text{m/s}^2. (a) Calculate the velocity of the stone after 1.5 s1.5\,\text{s}. (b) Determine the displacement of the stone from the point of projection at the end of 1.5 s1.5\,\text{s}. (c) After how much time from the instant of projection will the stone momentarily come to rest? (Take the velocity at the highest point to be zero.) (d) Using your answer from part (c), find the maximum height reached by the stone above the point of projection.
