Problem

Sunlight delivers an average power flux of 1.36×103 W m−21.36\times10^{3}\,\text{W m}^{-2} at the surface of the Earth. A rectangular solar panel has an area of 2.50×101 m22.50\times10^{1}\,\text{m}^{2} and an overall efficiency of 1.8×10−11.8\times10^{-1}. (a) Calculate the electrical power output of the panel under these conditions. (b) Express the power obtained in part (i) in kilowatts with the correct number of significant figures. (c) If the panel operates at this power for 3.60×103 s3.60\times10^{3}\,\text{s}, determine the total electrical energy generated and express it in scientific notation.
