Problem

In a container of negligible mass, 30 g30\,\text{g} of steam at 100∘C100^\circ\text{C} is added to 200 g200\,\text{g} of water at 40∘C40^\circ\text{C}. If no heat is lost to the surroundings, what is the final temperature of the system? Also find the masses of water and steam in equilibrium. Take Lv=539 cal/gL_v=539\,\text{cal/g} and cwater=1 cal g−1 ∘C−1c_{\text{water}}=1\,\text{cal g}^{-1}\,{}^\circ\text{C}^{-1}.
