Problem

The displacement of a ball rolling on a straight track was measured at equal time intervals as shown in the table. Time tt (s): 0, 2, 4, 6 Displacement xx (m): 0, 3, 7, 12 (i) Plot a displacement–time graph for the motion, taking suitable scales. (ii) From the graph or otherwise, calculate the average velocity of the ball between t=2 st = 2\,\text{s} and t=6 st = 6\,\text{s}. (iii) Find the total distance travelled and the average speed of the ball for the entire 6 s interval. (iv) Is the numerical value of average velocity equal to that of average speed in this case? Give reason for your answer.
