Problem

A series circuit has R=30 ΩR = 30\,\Omega, L=0.10 HL = 0.10\,\text{H} and C=10 μFC = 10\,\mu\text{F} and is connected to a 100 V100\,\text{V} (rms) variable-frequency source. (i) Find the rms current when the supply frequency is 400 Hz400\,\text{Hz}. (ii) Will the rms current at 800 Hz800\,\text{Hz} be larger or smaller than that at 400 Hz400\,\text{Hz}? Justify by stating the sign of the net reactance at 800 Hz800\,\text{Hz}.
