Problem

Consider the redox reaction 2 Al(s)+3 Cu2+(aq)→2 Al3+(aq)+3 Cu(s)2\,\text{Al}(s) + 3\,\text{Cu}^{2+}(aq) \to 2\,\text{Al}^{3+}(aq) + 3\,\text{Cu}(s). In a particulate diagram, the reactant side correctly shows two Al atoms and three Cu2+\text{Cu}^{2+} ions. The product side, however, contains two Al3+\text{Al}^{3+} ions, two Cu atoms, and one leftover Cu2+\text{Cu}^{2+} ion. List every inconsistency present and state how each should be corrected so the diagram accurately represents the balanced reaction.
