Problem

A 20 Ω20\,\Omega resistor is to be tested with a 6 V6\,\text{V} battery. By mistake, the voltmeter (internal resistance 2000 Ω2000\,\Omega) is connected in series with the resistor, while the ammeter is correctly placed in the circuit. (i) Calculate the current that the ammeter will read. (ii) Calculate the potential difference that the voltmeter will show. (iii) Will the student obtain a straight-line VV–II graph through the origin with this arrangement? Give one reason for your answer.
