Problem
Six identical point charges q are placed at the vertices of a regular hexagon of side a.
(i) Find the magnitude and direction of the net electrostatic force on the charge at any one vertex when all six charges are present.
(ii) One of the six charges is now removed while the other five remain fixed. Determine the new net force (magnitude and direction) on the charge located at the vertex directly opposite the vacant position.
(iii) By what factor has the magnitude of the force on that charge changed as a result of removing one charge?
