Problem

(c) A vector u⃗=x i^+2 j^−k^\vec{u}=x\,\hat{i}+2\,\hat{j}-\hat{k} contains an unknown real number xx. Another vector is v⃗=3 i^−j^+4 k^\vec{v}=3\,\hat{i}-\hat{j}+4\,\hat{k}. It is known that the component of u⃗×v⃗\vec{u}\times\vec{v} along k^\hat{k} equals 2020. (i) Without expanding completely, write u⃗×v⃗\vec{u}\times\vec{v} as a 3×33\times3 determinant. (ii) Evaluate the determinant to obtain each component of u⃗×v⃗\vec{u}\times\vec{v} in terms of xx. (iii) Using the condition on the k^\hat{k}-component, determine the value of xx. (iv) Substitute this value back to write the complete vector u⃗×v⃗\vec{u}\times\vec{v}.
