Problem

For a taxi service, the total fare yy (in rupees) for travelling xx kilometres is modelled by the linear relation 7x+5y−350=07x+5y-350=0. (a) Part 1: (i) Rewrite the relation in the form y=mx+cy=mx+c and hence find the cost per kilometre as well as the fixed booking charge. (b) Part 2: (ii) Find the maximum distance that can be travelled for a fare of ₹100. (c) Part 3: (iii) Determine the point where the fare becomes zero and interpret its meaning in the given context.
