Problem

A crate of mass 10 kg10\,\text{kg} is pulled up a rough incline that makes an angle of 20∘20^{\circ} with the horizontal. A constant force of 80 N80\,\text{N} acts parallel to the incline and moves the crate through a distance of 5 m5\,\text{m}. The coefficient of kinetic friction between the crate and the incline is 0.200.20. The crate is initially at rest. (i) Calculate the work done by (a) the applied force, (b) friction and (c) the component of the weight along the incline. (ii) Determine the net work done on the crate. (iii) Using your result, find the speed of the crate after it has moved 5 m5\,\text{m} up the incline. (Take g=9.8 m s−2g = 9.8\,\text{m s}^{-2}.)
