Problem

A particle moves along a straight line with velocity given by v(t)=5t−t2v(t) = 5t - t^{2} (in m/s). (i) Calculate its instantaneous acceleration at t=1 st = 1\,\text{s} and at t=3 st = 3\,\text{s}. (ii) For each of these instants, state whether the particle is speeding up or slowing down and justify your answer using the signs of velocity and acceleration.
