Problem

Let q:R→Rq:\mathbb{R}\to\mathbb{R} be given by q(x)=⌊x⌋q(x)=\lfloor x\rfloor, where ⌊x⌋\lfloor x\rfloor denotes the greatest integer less than or equal to xx. (i) Evaluate the left-hand limit and the right-hand limit of q(x)q(x) at x=2x=2. (ii) Determine whether qq is continuous from the right at x=2x=2 and whether it is continuous from the left at the same point. (iii) Using your results, classify the type of discontinuity that qq exhibits at each integer n∈Zn\in\mathbb{Z}.
