Problem

Consider the linear equation with decimals 0.4x−2.5=1.30.4x-2.5=1.3. (i) Solve the equation for xx, showing each algebraic step. (ii) Substitute the obtained value of xx into both sides of the original equation to verify the solution. (iii) If the value of xx obtained in (i) is increased by 1.51.5, determine the new values of the left–hand side and right–hand side of the original equation, and comment on whether equality still holds.
