Problem

A small metal ball is projected vertically upward from the edge of a building. It passes a balcony 15 m15\,\text{m} above the point of projection while moving upward with a speed of 12 m/s12\,\text{m/s}. Take g=9.8 m/s2g=9.8\,\text{m/s}^2 (upward positive). (a) Calculate the initial speed of projection. (b) Hence determine the maximum height (above the point of projection) reached by the ball.
