Problem

At t=0t=0 a particle passes through the origin of a straight line with a velocity of 15 m/s15\,\text{m/s} directed along the positive xx–axis. It is thereafter subjected to a uniform acceleration of −3 m/s2-3\,\text{m/s}^2. (i) Find the time at which the velocity of the particle becomes zero. (ii) Determine the maximum positive displacement of the particle from the origin. (iii) Calculate the time after which the particle returns to the origin for the first time.
