Problem

A toy car moves along a straight track as described below: • It stays at a fixed point 2 m2\,\text{m} from the origin from t=0 st=0\,\text{s} to t=3 st=3\,\text{s}. • It then travels uniformly and reaches 14 m14\,\text{m} at t=7 st=7\,\text{s}. • After that, it again remains at the same position till t=10 st=10\,\text{s}. Answer the following questions. (i) Draw a position–time graph for the entire motion, taking suitable scales on both axes. (ii) What physical quantity is represented by the slope of the graph during the interval 3 s3\,\text{s} to 7 s7\,\text{s}? Explain briefly. (iii) Is the motion of the car uniform over the whole 10 s10\,\text{s}? Give reason based on the graph you have drawn. (iv) Identify the time interval(s) during which the speed of the car is zero.
