Problem

A block of mass mm is initially at rest on a frictionless horizontal surface while two equal and opposite horizontal forces of magnitude FF act on it so that the net force is zero. At t=0t=0, the force acting to the left is removed. Derive an expression, in terms of FF, mm, and the distance dd the block has traveled after t=0t=0, for the block’s speed vv when it has traveled that distance.
