Problem

A rectangular conducting loop ABCD is pulled with a constant velocity to the right, so that it moves out of a region having a uniform magnetic field that is directed perpendicular to the plane of the loop and into the page. (i) While the right arm CD is still inside the field region and the left arm AB is already outside, state the direction of the induced current in the loop (clockwise or anticlockwise as viewed from the observer). (ii) What is the direction of the magnetic force acting on the loop due to this induced current? Justify your answer using the principle of energy conservation.
