Problem

For the quadratic polynomial P(x)=x2+(m−3) x+2P(x)=x^{2}+(m-3)\,x+2, one of its roots is known to be 44. (i) Determine the value of mm. (ii) Using the value of mm found in part (i), calculate the other root of the quadratic polynomial. (iii) Verify, with the obtained roots, that the sum and product of the roots satisfy the standard relationships for a quadratic polynomial of the form x2+Bx+Cx^{2}+Bx+C.
