Problem

A solid is formed by mounting a hemisphere on the top of a right circular cylinder. The hemisphere and the cylinder have the same radius rr. The height of the cylinder is three times its radius. The volume of the whole solid is 792π cm3792\pi\,\text{cm}^3. (i) Find the radius of the solid. (ii) Determine the height of the cylindrical part. (iii) Calculate the total surface area of the solid, including the base of the cylinder but excluding the common circular interface, taking π=227\pi = \dfrac{22}{7}.
