Problem

A cricket ball is projected vertically upward from ground level with an initial speed of 15 m ⁣ ⁣/ ⁣s15\,\text{m\!\!}/\!\text{s}. Air resistance is negligible. (a) If upward is chosen as the positive direction, state the sign (positive or negative) of the acceleration acting on the ball during its entire flight and give a brief reason. (b) Draw a labelled velocity–time graph for the ball from the instant of projection until it returns to ground level. (c) At the highest point of the flight, what are the values of (i) velocity and (ii) acceleration of the ball? Explain your answers in each case.
