Problem
The vertices of hexagon ABCDEF are given in order as A(0,0), B(3,0), C(4.5,2.598), D(3,5.196), E(0,5.196) and F(−1.5,2.598).
(i) Calculate the length of side AB.
(ii) Using appropriate reasoning, find the perimeter of the entire hexagon ABCDEF.
(iii) A jogger runs exactly along the boundary of the hexagon for 4 complete laps. How much distance, in metres, does the jogger cover? (Assume the coordinates are measured in metres.)
