Problem

Particle A starts from the origin and moves with constant velocity vA=3 i^+6 j^ m s−1\mathbf{v}_A = 3\,\hat{i} + 6\,\hat{j}\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-1}. Particle B starts simultaneously from the point rB0=8 i^+4 j^ m\mathbf{r}_{B0} = 8\,\hat{i} + 4\,\hat{j}\,\text{m} and moves with velocity vB=7 i^+8 j^ m s−1\mathbf{v}_B = 7\,\hat{i} + 8\,\hat{j}\,\text{m}\,\text{s}^{-1}. (a) Find the time at which the two particles meet. (b) Calculate the magnitude of the velocity of A relative to B at that instant.
