Problem

A city taxi company charges a fixed booking fee in addition to a charge per kilometre. For a ride of xx km, the total fare yy (in rupees) is governed by the linear equation 7x−y+50=07x - y + 50 = 0. (a) Using x=0, 2, 4, 6, 8x = 0,\,2,\,4,\,6,\,8, find the corresponding values of yy. (b) Plot the points obtained in part (a) on a graph sheet and draw the straight line that represents the fare rule. (c) Use your graph to estimate the distance, correct to the nearest half-kilometre, for which the fare will be Rs 120.
