Problem
Two unbiased dice are thrown simultaneously. Let the following events be defined:
A: The sum of the two numbers is at most 5.
B: The numbers on the two dice are equal.
C: The sum of the two numbers is a prime number.
(i) Determine the number of favourable outcomes for each of the events A, B and C.
(ii) Hence find the probabilities P(A), P(B) and P(C).
(iii) Arrange the three probabilities in ascending order, showing all working needed for the comparison.
(iv) Justify, with suitable reasoning, which event is the least likely and which is the most likely to occur.
