Problem

Suppose U={x∈Z+∣x<40}U = \{x \in \mathbb{Z}^+ \mid x < 40\}, A={multiples of 4 less than 40}A = \{\text{multiples of } 4 \text{ less than } 40\}, B={multiples of 6 less than 40}B = \{\text{multiples of } 6 \text{ less than } 40\}, and C={multiples of 12 less than 40}C = \{\text{multiples of } 12 \text{ less than } 40\}. (1) List the sets AA, BB, and CC. (2) Find:
i A∩BA \cap Bii B∩CB \cap Ciii A∩CA \cap C
iv A∩B∩CA \cap B \cap Cv A∪B∪CA \cup B \cup C
(3) Show that n(A∪B∪C)=n(A)+n(B)+n(C)−n(A∩B)−n(B∩C)−n(A∩C)+n(A∩B∩C)n(A \cup B \cup C) = n(A) + n(B) + n(C) - n(A \cap B) - n(B \cap C) - n(A \cap C) + n(A \cap B \cap C).
