Problem

A straight conductor is placed in a uniform magnetic field. (i) A 0.40 m0.40\,\text{m} long wire carries a current of 5.0 A5.0\,\text{A} and makes an angle of 60∘60^{\circ} with a 0.30 T0.30\,\text{T} magnetic field. Calculate the magnitude of the magnetic force on the wire. (ii) The current is then reduced by 40%40\% and the wire is rotated so that it now makes an angle of 30∘30^{\circ} with the same field, while its length remains 0.40 m0.40\,\text{m}. Determine the new force.
