Problem

A satellite is in a geostationary orbit at a distance of 4.2×107 m4.2\times10^{7}\,\text{m} from Earth’s centre. Using G=6.67×10−11 N m2kg−2G = 6.67\times10^{-11}\,\text{N m}^2\text{kg}^{-2} and ME=6.0×1024 kgM_E = 6.0\times10^{24}\,\text{kg}, calculate: (i) its orbital speed. (ii) its kinetic energy per unit mass.
