Problem

Two identical turntables A and B are placed side by side on a laboratory bench. Turntable A makes 1.51.5 complete revolutions clockwise in 12 s12\,\text{s} while turntable B makes 1.51.5 complete revolutions anticlockwise in the same time. Anticlockwise rotation is taken as positive. (i) For each turntable, state the magnitude of the angular distance traversed during the 12 s12\,\text{s} interval. (ii) For each turntable, determine the average angular displacement (with sign) for the same interval. (iii) For each turntable, write the average angular velocity (with sign) and the average angular speed. (iv) Explain why the magnitudes of the average angular speeds are equal while the average angular velocities are not.
