Starting from a post-office O, a postman walks 150m due east to house A and then 100m due north to house B. A watch-tower T is located 50m due east of house B.
(i) Determine the magnitude of the postman’s resultant displacement from the post-office O to house B.
(ii) Give the position of the watch-tower T relative to the post-office O in terms of east and north components (state each component with unit and sign convention).
(iii) Choosing the watch-tower T as the reference point and keeping east as the positive x-direction and north as the positive y-direction, state the position of the post-office O.
