Problem

For a real parameter kk, define fk(x)=x+kf_k(x)=\sqrt{x+k} with domain [−k,∞)[-k,\infty) and g(x)=ln⁡(7−2x)g(x)=\ln(7-2x) with domain (−∞,72)(-\infty,\tfrac72). (i) Obtain an explicit algebraic expression for (g∘fk)(x)(g\circ f_k)(x). (ii) Derive the domain of (g∘fk)(g\circ f_k) in terms of kk. (iii) Find all real values of kk for which the domain obtained in part (ii) is non–empty. (iv) Determine those value(s) of kk for which (g∘fk)(g\circ f_k) is defined for every real x≥−kx\ge -k.
