Problem

A force of magnitude 50 N50\,\text{N} acts at the point A(2 m, 3 m)A(2\,\text{m},\,3\,\text{m}) in the xyxy-plane and is directed towards the point B(6 m, 7 m)B(6\,\text{m},\,7\,\text{m}). Calculate its moment about the origin O(0,0)O(0,0). (i) Write the equation of the line of action of the force in Cartesian form. (ii) Determine the shortest distance from the origin to this line. (iii) Using the result obtained in part (ii), compute the magnitude of the moment of the force about OO and state whether the rotation produced is clockwise or counter-clockwise.
