Problem

In a circle with centre OO, the chords ABAB and CDCD are equal in length. They subtend central angles ∠AOB=(3x+20)∘\angle AOB=(3x+20)^{\circ} and ∠COD=(5x−40)∘\angle COD=(5x-40)^{\circ} at OO. A third chord EFEF subtends a central angle of 70∘70^{\circ}. (i) Find the value of xx. (ii) Using the value of xx, determine the numerical measures of ∠AOB\angle AOB and ∠COD\angle COD. (iii) Compare the lengths of chords ABAB, CDCD and EFEF, giving suitable reasons for every step of your comparison.
