Problem

For a real parameter aa, consider the functions f(x)=exf(x)=e^{x} and ga(x)=ax+2g_a(x)=ax+2 on the closed interval [0,2][0,2]. (1) Write an explicit expression for ha(x)=f(x)−ga(x)h_a(x)=f(x)-g_a(x). (2) Compute ha(0)h_a(0) and ha(2)h_a(2) in terms of aa. State the sign of each value when a=1a=1, a=3a=3, and a=5a=5. (3) Determine all real values of aa for which the equation ex=ax+2e^{x}=ax+2 has at least one solution xx in the interval (0,2)(0,2). Justify your answer thoroughly.
