Problem

In right triangle ABC, ∠B=90∘\angle B = 90^\circ. The lengths of the sides are AB=6 cmAB = 6\,\text{cm}, BC=8 cmBC = 8\,\text{cm} and AC=10 cmAC = 10\,\text{cm}. Let θ=∠A\theta = \angle A. (i) Find sin⁡θ\sin \theta, cos⁡θ\cos \theta and tan⁡θ\tan \theta. (ii) Verify that sin⁡θcos⁡θ=tan⁡θ\dfrac{\sin \theta}{\cos \theta}=\tan \theta. Briefly explain what this equality tells you about the three basic trigonometric ratios for an acute angle of a right triangle.
