Problem

A force F⃗=8i^+6j^−4k^ N\vec F = 8\hat i + 6\hat j -4\hat k\,\text{N} acts at a point whose position vector relative to the origin is r⃗=3i^+5j^+2k^ m\vec r = 3\hat i + 5\hat j + 2\hat k\,\text{m}. (i) Find the torque τ⃗\vec \tau of this force about the origin. (ii) Using your result, determine the perpendicular distance (moment arm) from the origin to the line of action of the force. (iii) If the magnitude of the force is doubled while its line of action remains unchanged, what happens to the moment arm obtained in part (ii)? Justify your answer.
