Problem

For the quadratic function p(x)=x2+2(k−1)x+2k+5p(x)=x^{2}+2(k-1)x+2k+5, where k∈Rk\in\mathbb{R}, answer the following: (i) Obtain the coordinates of the vertex in terms of kk. (ii) Hence find an expression for the minimum value of p(x)p(x) in terms of kk. (iii) Determine all real values of kk for which the minimum value of p(x)p(x) is exactly 44. (iv) For each value of kk obtained in part (iii), calculate the corresponding value of xx at which p(x)p(x) attains its minimum.
