Problem

A warehouse worker has to drag a crate across the floor using a rope. The rope must not make an angle greater than 45∘45^{\circ} with the horizontal, and the worker can pull steadily over the entire distance of 8 m8\,\text{m}. (i) If the worker applies a constant force of 50 N50\,\text{N} at an angle of 45∘45^{\circ}, find the work done on the crate. State whether this meets a target of 300 J300\,\text{J}. (ii) Within the 45∘45^{\circ} limit, calculate the minimum constant force the worker must apply to achieve exactly 300 J300\,\text{J} of work over the 8 m8\,\text{m} displacement.
