Problem

A single circular conducting loop of radius 0.10 m0.10\,\text{m} and resistance 5 Ω5\,\Omega is placed in a region of uniform magnetic field directed perpendicular to the plane of the loop. The magnitude of the field is increased uniformly from 0.20 T0.20\,\text{T} to 0.50 T0.50\,\text{T} in 0.04 s0.04\,\text{s}. (i) Calculate the magnitude of the average emf induced in the loop during this interval. (ii) Determine the magnitude of the induced current. (iii) An observer is located on the side of the loop from which the magnetic field lines emerge (i.e. field directed towards the observer). State whether the induced current appears clockwise or anticlockwise to the observer and give reason. (iv) Find the total charge that passes through any cross-section of the loop during the change in field.
