Problem

Let f:R→(−1,∞)f: \mathbb R \to (-1,\infty) be defined by f(x)=e2x−1f(x)=e^{2x}-1. (i) Show that ff is bijective. (ii) Obtain a function g:(−1,∞)→Rg:(-1,\infty)\to\mathbb R such that (g∘f)(x)=x(g\circ f)(x)=x for all x∈Rx\in\mathbb R. (iii) Verify that (f∘g)(y)=y(f\circ g)(y)=y for all y>−1y>-1. (iv) State the domains and ranges of ff and gg that make the above compositions valid, and conclude that ff and gg are inverses of each other.
