Problem

A ball of mass 200 g200\,\text{g} is tied to a 0.60 m0.60\,\text{m} long string and is whirled in a horizontal circle. It completes 55 full revolutions in 22 seconds. At point Q on the circle the string breaks. (i) Calculate the speed of the ball just before the string breaks. (ii) State the direction in which the ball will start moving immediately after the break. (iii) Describe the subsequent path of the ball in the presence of Earth’s gravity until it touches the ground. You may neglect air resistance.
