Problem

Two equal masses of water, each of 0.50 kg0.50\,\text{kg}, are initially at 350 K350\,\text{K} and 300 K300\,\text{K}, respectively. They are mixed adiabatically in an insulated container until thermal equilibrium is reached. Take the specific heat capacity of water as 4.18×103 J kg−1K−14.18\times10^{3}\,\text{J\,kg}^{-1}\text{K}^{-1}. Calculate the total entropy change of the universe for this mixing process.
